Welcome to AMCAP UK!

AMCAP UK's First Meeting
Our inaugural meeting of AMCAP UK was held at the Hyde Park Chapel, South Kensington, London, on 10 November 2007. People interested in counseling and being involved with AMCAP were notified via a short article placed in the central pages of the Ensign in August 2007. These pages carry news of LDS members specifically within the United Kingdom.

There was a good response to the article with 26 people, including two general practitioners who are interested in and supportive of counseling, attending the inaugural meeting. Also in attendance were two members out of the three counselors who currently work for LDS Family Services in the UK.

There were three excellent presentations as well as a keynote address by President Brian Martin, Poole England Stake President, who said what a great blessing it was to now have this organization in the UK. He believed it would become a tremendous resource and support to bishops and stake
presidents here in our nation.

A business meeting was held in which the way forward for AMCAP UK was discussed. Nine attendees offered help in some way for the future as well as from Marion Allen and Rosa Hubbard-Ford, current co-ordinators.

It was noted that many people had travelled from north, south, east and west within the UK, and shared enthusiasm about future meetings.

AMCAP is an international professional organization of counselors, psychotherapists and others in helping professions whose common bond is adherence to the principles and standards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Individual opinions and ideas do not necessarily reflect those of the AMCAP board or the general AMCAP membership. AMCAP is neither sponsored by nor does it speak for the LDS church or its leaders.
