Brief Bio Sketch: Wandal W. Winn, MD, Alaska Area Coordinator, and System Operator of the AMCAP.net Member Forum
Dr. Winn is a life-long Alaskan board-certified in psychiatry and forensic medicine. He is a BYU graduate and has served in a variety of Church callings presently as First Assistant in his High Priests Group. In addition, he spends time with his wife and three children who share his interest and work in neuro-science (2 psychologists, 1 psychiatrist and 1 neuroradiologist).
On the professional front, he served as Chief of Psychiatry and Director of Mental Health Services at Alaska Native Medical Center for three years and then entered medical practice in Anchorage. He has served as an itinerant psychiatrist to rural and remote mental health centers on a monthly basis for the past 25 years and is a designated expert in trauma, safety sensitive employee issues, and disability, serving as a consultant to the FAA, VA, state, and managed care companies. He has traveled to Russia and China to review their provision of health care and is a recipient of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill's Exemplary Psychiatrist Award. Dr.Winn is an expert in the application of technology to the delivery of mental health services and Medical Director of the State of Alaska's TeleBehavioral Health Project.
